Recomended PSI Ratings for your Tent or Driveaway Awning

The air tubes in your Khyam tent/awning are constructed with an internal TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) bladder encased in a durable, reinforced polyester outer sleeve.

Inflation is carried out through the external speed valve, with some models also featuring internal speed valves to allow pressure adjustments from inside the tent during adverse weather conditions.

All Khyam air tubes undergo comprehensive testing to ensure strength, rigidity, and overall performance. If you are experiencing stability issues with any air tubes, first check the pressure and increase if required following these guidelines:-

The standard operating pressure for all Khyam air tubes is 7–8 psi.

In windy conditions, this may be increased to 9 psi, and in extreme weather up to 10 psi if required.

Once conditions improve, the pressure should be reduced accordingly.

The Khyam High Velocity Pump enables rapid inflation and is fitted with a safety gauge that regulates pressure up to 7 psi.

If higher pressure is necessary, the safety valve can be temporarily overridden by pressing down on the red escape nozzle.

During hot weather, particularly when the tent or awning is closed and unoccupied, internal temperatures can rise significantly.

This heat increases the temperature of the air tubes and expansion of the air inside the tubes causes the pressure to rise.

To prevent overstressing the tubes, release a small amount of air in the morning on very hot days, and top up the pressure again in the evening once temperatures have dropped.
